How does the AI decide a call is spam?
It does not decide, it scores. Adaptive AI call risk scoring rates how suspicious a call looks as it arrives, after your safe list and hard rules have already run. You choose what a risky score does: ring, silence, voicemail, or reject.
Is AI risk scoring free?
Adaptive AI call risk scoring is an optional Premium feature managed through Google Play. The free install includes blocklists, pattern rules, unknown-caller and private-number handling, spoofing controls, SMS filtering, profiles, schedules, and the blocked-call log.
Can the AI block someone in my contacts?
No. Contacts, trusted numbers, and whitelisted prefixes are checked before any rule or score. They ring regardless of how the call would have scored.
What should risky calls do at first?
Send them to voicemail. A real caller can leave a message and a spam campaign almost never will. Move to silence or reject only after a week of reviewing the log.
What does the reason label in the log mean?
Each blocked call is labeled with the layer that handled it: whitelist, block list or pattern, area code or prefix, anti-spoofing, AI risk, strict mode, or an active mode or schedule. The label tells you which setting to adjust if a call was handled wrongly.
Does it also filter spam texts?
Yes. With SMS permission granted, Block Guard filters SMS and MMS using blocked senders and keyword-style patterns, keeps a message log, and always delivers messages from contacts and the safe list.
Which permissions are required?
Call permissions are required for call screening. SMS permission is required only if you want text filtering. Android may also ask about default phone or messaging behavior depending on the handling options you choose.
